BBQs, fireworks, and kiwiana parties

It's been a busy few weeks – spring has hit and the BBQs are out.

BBQ and drinks at S&J's

We had a nice-but-slightly-rained-on veggie BBQ at S&J's place – no photos for this one, they came out a bit flah, but there is a video of S&J being super on Facebook now.

(Mog also demonstrated new 2-player game, working title Legs, on Jim. The first player, the ‘Masseur’, attacks the legs of the second player, that's you. He wins if you make squawking noises, and you win when he stops attacking your legs.)

Guy Fawkes'

Just a few days later was Guy Fawkes' Day and so we headed up to Meg's Dad's place on Mt Vic, which has a fantastic view over the Wellington harbour:

Nice panorama, eh? Thanks to Autostitch for that one, more to follow… And yes, I know I need to redo my photos page layout :).

Anyway, we and all the other family friends had a BBQ there and settled in to watch the fireworks.

I got a nice group shot (note the pile of boats accumulating in the background, mostly arriving about an hour before the fireworks) – but unfortunately the fireworks shots mostly had blurry city lights (I should have taken my tripod – might be time to buy one of the cute little flexible ones like Luther recommends, for casual stuff).

<p>The video came out a lot better, here’s some from near the end:</p> <p> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cyLWzkN3opE&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cyLWzkN3opE&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> </p>

Kiwiana BBQ/party

The next weekend Vicki & Simon hosted a great Kiwiana BBQ/party at their place up in Normandale.

I have caved to popular request and have posted the photos from that on Facebook – given it wasn't in public and the number of teachers present in, shall we say ‘theme costume’, Murray ;-).

At some point I'll make a thingy to put the thumbnails here and the photos there, but in the meantime, just log into Facebook, add me as a friend if we aren't already, and go to my profile's photo albums.

The coming weekend is at this point BBQ-free :). Catch you later…
