I don’t agree with him, FWIW – even though it’s true that Jim and I are the most active cooks around here, the girls do just fine thanks when we’re not in charge. They’re probably less likely to make a performance of it, though ;).

I think it may have been true historically, simply because women were expected to cook dinner in addition to the other 300 things they had to do each day to make the family run; chefing (is that a word? it is now) was largely a male-dominated preserve. Now, at least here in the antipodes, I reckon my generation’s about even.
